You had your carrots today for lunch, ate the entire jar and wanted some more. Mommy then decided to get some fruit for dessert and had you try pears for the first time. You hated it! You made a horrible face and pushed your back against the chair to indicate you wanted out. We offered again, you tried again with the same reaction. So there we have it, the very first food you rejected: pears!

Vaccines? ok!
We took you to the doctor today for 2 missing vaccines, Prevnar and Dtap. Since you cried hard the past 2 times we were feeling pretty bad for you. But you surprised all of us by barely crying – nothing after the first shot and just a little bit after the second shot. When Daddy picked you up you had already stopped crying and went to nurse quite all right. No fever or any other reactions, phew!
5 months old
You are 5 months old, time is flying! You are such a big and happy baby. Always has the biggest smiles for every one of us, laughs with us, screams in delight. You are making new sounds, this week you learned “mah-mah-mah-mah” and you say it really loud, for everybody in the house o hear. You have started to show some stranger anxiety, by crying and pouting at some new people you meet. It doesn’t last long though, in 5-10 minutes you get over it. You are getting better at sitting by yourself and at tummy time, you can roll over both ways (although you still haven’t mastered tummy to back 100% yet). You weight 19lbs4oz and is heavier than Julia was at 8 months. Your hair has grown in such a perfect line around our head that everybody comments on your haircut, thinking we did it. No teeth yet. You love chatting with your pacifier, I’m starting to think it’s best not to give it to you since it seems you wake up to talk to it. You are getting very interested in the kitty, constantly stares at Gato’s tail and you have tried to grab it already (unsuccessfully). You started eating solids and so far has liked everything you ate: sweet potato, banana, avocado, carrots and peas. Peas were your favorite so far, you ate an entire jar. You think water is pretty weird but is getting used to it. You love watching Julia, and you smile at her a lot, even at her picture.
First peas
You had peas today for the first time and you loved it! First time you ate an entire jar of babyfood (2 oz). Mommy is glad someone else in the house likes peas too.
Water, what a weird thing!
With your first meal you also had water for the first time. You made the funniest face! You let the water fall right off your mouth after you tasted it. Your look said it all “YUCK! What is THIS?”
Sleeping away at the restaurant
We went to a Brazilian bbq restaurant with Nonna, Pappa and friends for dinner. You arrived asleep in the carseat since it was really close to your bed time, stayed asleep for a while, woke up, looked around for about 10 minutes without making a sound and went back to sleep until we were paying the bill. You cried a bit, we got you out, paid and got you back in the carseat and you went back to sleep in the car. That was an easy outing!
New sleeping record
You slept from 9:20 pm to 5:20 am straight, in the portable crib in your room, despite having a stuffy nose. We were amazed!
First cold
You seem to have caught the same cold your Daddy has. I think I have caught it as well. You are pretty miserable in your sleep right now, crying while sleeping. I was holding you in the rocking chair for a while, and you were crying and crying without waking up, making stuffy noises sounds with your stuffy nose. Poor baby!
Learning how to sit
You have been wanting to sit for a couple of weeks and we have been practicing it. I get you to sit down in front of me and hold you with my legs, between my knees, just to give you some support. Today you were able to balance by yourself for a few minutes while chewing on your purple elephant. Then you decided to grab a toy to your far right and I had to catch you 😉
Big scratch
You were taking a nap today, and when you woke up, you had this giant bloody scratch on the side of your face, between your eye and your ear. Scary!
