You spent the day before Christmas and Christmas Eve wearing just a diaper because it was so hot. You had your first dip into a pool earlier in the day, but you didn’t like it very much, my guess is the water was too cold for you. We dressed you only for some quick photos, but you were too hot so I took them off as soon as we were done.
Empathy
We confirmed it today – when your sister cries, you cry too. And you cry really hard, looking very sad. We saw it happened before and thought it was just a coincidence, and then you did it again today.
Good sleeper
You slept 7hs straight this past night, your new record!
First trip to Brazil
You took your first plane trip and it was already an international/long one, we came to Brazil to spend the holidays with the Brazilian side of the family (and to escape the cold weather too). You behaved very well, nursed and slept the whole time, hardly cried at all, it would be perfect if you hadn’t spit and peed on mommy, but that’s OK. We had spare clothes to wear, no biggie. You got to use your brand new passports 😉
Already strong willed
Not even 3weeks old and you are already letting mamae know when you are not happy about not getting the boob.
Bellybutton
The stump fell off this morning, you have a bellybutton now.
1 week old
You are a fairly calm, mellow baby so far. You sleep a lot, averaging 3h between feedings, sometimes 4-5h, which we appreciate in the middle of the night. Even so you are already up to 8lbs, so we know you are eating well when you are awake. You usually spit up after nursing and we have gone through many changes of clothes. Usually after spitting you have the loudest hiccups, they last a while. Your latch is not great, we are trying to fix it – you don’t open your mouth enough and don’t extend your tongue over your lower gums. We end up playing a game of trying to get you to open your mouth big every time you have to eat. You also choke often when nursing, scaring us every time. You don’t like anybody holding your feet, as we found out when changing diapers. You peed all over the place, on yourself, everywhere, when Daddy changed your first diaper. You repeated the same one week later, making our bed wet. You have some good alert time every day, opening your eyes wide and staring at things and people around you. You make a ton of noise while sleeping, now we know it starts a long time before you actually wake up. Some good 30min, sometimes even more. You take the pacifier to sleep sometimes and can fall asleep by yourself swaddled in the bassinet, without crying, just peacefully laying there.
You are here
You were born on October 15, 2011 at
10:06 PM at the North Austin Medical Center – St Davis. Dr Christie Capet was the one who pulled you out. You weighed 7 lbs 11 oz and measured 21 inches long. You didn’t cry much right away. You were healthy and mellow, had quite a bit of hair and everything seemed to stop when I saw you for the first time. Welcome to the world, Eric.
Negative 4 months old and you have a blog
You’re still 4 months from being born and you have a blog! Super geek! Blogging from the womb.
You have a name
Finally, I agreed with Mamae on your name. (I actually decided while we were in Punta Cana, but wanted to setup your blog as a surprise).
